So last Friday I met with Dr. P.A. It went MUCH better than I expected! He said we could actually do our FET in May! Wooohoo! He also said that we could do a natural cycle (less meds). He said that there is no big difference as far as end results either way. He will only do a natural cycle if you have regular cycles and ovulate on your own. My cycles are pretty regular (31-34 day). I will go in on May 4th to do an ultrasound. If I have a dominant follicle (sign I will ovulate on my own) then we will transfer in May. If not, then we will do medication and transfer in June. But he felt confident with my regular cycles that I would have no problem ovulating.
He really made me feel better about my PGD results as well. I felt like I was a walking freak with all of our abnormalities. He reassured me and said that he has seen much worse and that many embryos come back abnormal. Most people just do not know because they do not make viable pregnancies and the sperm are more likely to go for the “good ones” naturally. He also said he would not have ANY hesitation in transferring the other two that came back with no results some day. Most times the abnormalities will always show up. The “no-reads” mean that more likely they cannot confirm, but no abnormalities appeared. He said that it is more likely to just not be a viable pregnancy if anything and not that we would have a child with abnormalities. That made me feel much better. Here I thought we would have to make the decision what to do with these embryos since they were most likely abnormal (so I thought). I am not morally comfortable with that at all. I want to give all of our babies a chance at life, but want them to have a good quality of life, too.

Moving On
I know I have been gone a few days. I did not feel much like talking. I have been reading your blogs and trying to stay caught up. You ladies truly have no idea how much you mean to me! All of your comments have given me the strength and motivation to pick myself back up. For that, I am forever thankful for each and every one of you!
Right now I am just waiting to start. So AF feel free to visit anytime!! I am physically feeling 100% better. Mentally...let's just say better than I was last week this time. I have an appointment with my Dr on Friday to discuss our next steps and when I can finally do the transfer.
The embryologist did email me the complete results from my PGD testing on Monday. I still cannot believe how many abnormalities there were with so many of my embryos. Like I did not feel like a big enough freak already! Thanks for the confirmation in writing!!

Where it all went wrong...
I am not even sure where to begin. Most of you probably think I am recovering from my transfer. I wish I could say that. I am recovering..but not from my transfer.
I guess it started Tuesday morning. I woke up and did not feel well at all. I got in the shower and just a couple minutes into it, it took everything for me to be able to rinse the soap out of my hair, get out of the shower, and lay on the cold floor. After a few minutes, I gathered myself together and did my best to get ready for work. I went to work, but only made it half day. I came straight home and slept the rest of the day. Now, somewhere in the mix of this day we were told that the results from the PGD will not be back until Wednesday evening...our transfer was supposed to be Wednesday afternoon. This is a moot point now, but I will explain more on that later.
Wednesday morning I woke up and felt worse. I was so nauseated, my belly was extended, I could not keep any food down, and I had NO energy. I called the Dr office and they wanted me to go get blood work and then come in for an ultrasound. Jerry was able to get off work (he was off for the transfer but then ended up working since it was now going to be Thursday) came home and picked me up. We got to the Dr and not only did I feel like hell I know I looked it. I could only get sweat pants on, did not do one thing to my hair, and makeup...not even a lick of it. Jerry said another patient in the waiting room looked terrified when she saw me. I do not remember much of it, except for a nurse coming over with a wheelchair and just said, I am not going to ask how you are. She wheeled me back to an exam room. I saw a few nurses and Dr. P.A. He grabbed my knee and that is when the waterworks started flowing. I knew it...my transfer was going to be cancelled.
I was not in the room but a couple minutes before Dr. P.A. came in. He first started talking about the issue with getting the results back from the PGD lab. He did not want to do a 6 day transfer that he would rather come back in tonight and do it. I was amazed that he (and his staff) would actually come back in around 9 tonight to do my transfer. He said that he wanted to do what was best and he felt for me, a day 5 transfer would be best. Now, after that being said he wanted to do an ultrasound to see if I had a lot of fluid. I had fluid, but not to the point where he felt it was medically necessary to stop the transfer. So now it was up to Jerry and I to make the call. I already felt terrible and could barely function, let alone make this big decision. I just could not imagine transfering our babies when already feeling this terrible. It COULD NOT be a good environment to start out in. If we did not do the transfer, that would mean they would freeze all our embabies and I would have to wait another cycle for transfer. The Dr walked out after saying that the nurse was going to give me an IV with fluids and some anti-nausea meds.
I laid there and cried. I could not believe this was happening! WHY?! I cannot make this decision. The nurse came in and hooked up my IV. Minutes later the Dr came back in and said he got my blood-work back. It was highly elevated and now he felt it was medically necessary to cancel our transfer. I was actually relieved that someone else made the decision for us. Still dissapointed beyond words, but for one second relieved. I was at the Dr for 3 hours getting fluids and the Dr and nurses came in several times to check on me. We briefly talked about still being in contact about my results from the PGD and how and when we would go about our future transfer. They wheeled me back out and home we went...with no transfer...no babies in my belly...not how I was supposed to leave the office on Wednesday.
Thursday was still pretty rough. The nausea was a little better since they had given me some meds to take every 3 hours. Still bloated and uncomfortable, but hoping I have been through the worst part of it. I went and got blood-work again. They later called, and yes my levels were starting to descend. This means I did not have to go to the hospital and "get drained."
I knew my results from the PGD would be in, but I just could not get the courage to call. I could not take anymore bad news. I wanted to believe for just a little while longer that all 22 babies were all still healthy and growing. Finally, in the afternoon I emailed the director of the lab Dr H. Within minutes he called me.
Now, I know this news can be worse. However, I was shocked and devastated. Out of 31 follicles retrieved, 25 embryos matured, 22 made it to blastocyst stage....only 2 came back "normal" from the PGD testing. The results showed that the remaining embryos have severe abnormalities. There are two others that they still have frozen because they did not get any results back on them. Dr H is getting in contact with the lab to find out about them.
I do not have all the details yet and am already coming up with a list of questions. What we did get today, is maybe some light on why we had so many failed pregnancies. Had we ever had a viable pregnancy and carried the baby to term, who knows what kind of quality of life would they have had. For that, I am thankful that we did go with the PGD testing.
So now I wait, and recover. I am finally just feeling well enough to eat a decent meal and even sit at the computer. This over stimming really took a toll on my body. I had taken a picture of my belly before everything started more for myself. Just to see where I started before getting my baby bump. *sigh* The second pic as you can see below I now have a bump...just no baby.

Here is my belly before any stims

Here is my belly yesterday from the over stimming...jeans are not even an option.
This last pic is a beautiful flower arrangement that I received from Jessica. I cannot thank you enough for your sweet gesture. It really put a smile on my face, when I was at my darkest moment yesterday. I am forever thankful for your kindness and support. I will contine to pray for you and your journey. And I will be there every step of the way with you, too!

It is a good day to get pregnant
That is what my Acupuncturist said when I told him my transfer is scheduled for Wednesday. I could not help but smile from ear to ear. :O)
I found out this morning that all 22 embabies made it to today and are being biopsied and sent to the Lab for PGD/aCGH today. I am still so thrilled that we have so many.
The schedule as of now is:
Wednesday 04/14/10
10:15 Acupuncture
12:30 Transfer
24 hour bed rest
**Not sure if I am going to go back for Acupuncture immediately following transfer. My husband says no. He wants me to immediately go home and rest. The Acupuncturist says right after is very important, but not in a demanding way. Anyone have an opinion on the subject?

We have been blessed
So I decided yesterday was not so bad. I would do it all over again and even insist they haul me out in a wheel barrow! Have I gone insane? No....I am just beyond thrilled that Jerry and I are the proud parents of ......
22 Fertilized Fantastic embabies!!!

22 Fertilized Fantastic embabies!!!

Out of the 31, 25 were mature. Out of the 25, 22 were fertilized. I am on cloud 9 right now! Thank you for the prayers and support! We are continuing to pray, but also cherishing this moment. God is Good!

Egg Retrieval
I am writing this post all curled up in bed cuddled with my puppy. Laying here, I am reflecting on the day (from what I can remember) and deciding what to say. I am too tired to come up with anything too deep or funny so I have decided to just give a play by play.
This morning I woke up at 4. That has been my internal alarm clock for the last week. However, this time I was actually able to use the bathroom and go right back to bed. My alarm went off at 6. All in all, a pretty good nights sleep. This morning my ovaries were EXTRA sensitive! I literally felt like one false move and an ovary was going to burst. It hurt to actually walk.
We made it to the office at 7:50. Waiting room was empty and I was taken back within 5 minutes to get my IV started. My coordinator/nurse "C" tried my left wrist, buy my vein was rolling. The thing about not being able to drink or eat after midnight..veins do not like to cooperate. C was able to get a vein first stick on the right wrist. Jerry was then able to come back and wait with me. Another nurse came in and explained what to expect the next few days (symptoms, meds, when I will be called with results).
The anesthesiologist then came in and started asking questions. Heart problems, thyroid, allergies, etc. I said no to everything, She then asked if I had any questions. I said no questions, but a few years ago I had a laproscopic procedure (for endometriosis) was fine during, but afterwards I had uncontrollable shaking for 24 hours. She immediately said that would not have been from the anesthesia. Now, obviously I am not the professional, but I was told by my dr and nurse at the hospital that I had a reaction from the anesthesia. Just repeating what I was told! It really made me uncomfortable because she was pretty much calling me a liar. I shrugged it off and just said ok. She walked out and immediately Jerry and I looked at each other. Didn't have to say anything. The look said it all.
Another nurse came in and asked if I was ready. Uhh, lady my ovaries have BEEN ready :O) I had to walk in the room in a lovely hospital gown with the IV bag rolled in behind me. It looked just like an exam room, but larger and with more equipment. There was another nurse in there and then came in the anesthesiologist. I sat down on the table and put my legs up over the stirrups as opposed to my feet on them like other exams. I asked how long I would be out for. The Anesthesiologist said oh you will be awake in just a few minutes. Dr. P.A. then came in and with a big smile asked if I was ready. Yes sir! Let's do this! the anesthesiologist put a few injections in my IV and I was o--u----t.
I would love to say when I woke up, but seems how I did not really wake up until after 1...I will tell you what Jerry told me. When I went into the procedure room Jerry went into another room and uh hum...made his contribution. He then went back out in the waiting room and not even 10 minutes later was told I was done and could come back. When C brought him back he saw the anesthesiologist shaking me. Not dramatically, but more of a child wanting to go open their gifts on Christmas morning. When he walked in he asked what's going on? Her response was, she was very nervous beforehand. Ummmm....no not so much lady and what does that have to do with shaking me?
So apparently, after that the nurses took rotations coming in trying to wake me up. I do not remember ONE BIT of it. One nurse came in and said that I had 5 minutes because they had other patients that needed the room. Jerry was less than thrilled seems how his wife could not open her eyes or even hold her own head up. C went and got me a Sprite and Jerry said she was being very nice. I took two sips and apparently did not look very good. Jerry grabbed the trash can...and yep...I ralphed...twice. Finally, they said I could lay back down. But 3 minutes later I was told again I had to go. Poor Jerry had to dress me with NO help from me. I could not imagine dressing someone completely as they are passed out, but I cannot imagine it was easy. The nurse came around with the wheelchair and out I went. I was wheeled through the waiting room while other women waited to go in. What on earth were they thinking when they saw me? Head hanging over chair with drool coming down my mouth! We got outside amd Jerry pulled the car around. He had to pick me up and physically put me in the car.
When we got home, Jerry got me into bed and I did not actually wake up until after 1. My procedure was at 9. The anesthesiologist said I would be asleep for a few minutes. No more comment.
Jerry was my hero today. He took such good care of me. On the way home he stopped by McDonald's and got me a Big Mac (my favorite). After he got me in bed and put my food out I guess I attempted to eat. Each time he came in the room I had fallen back asleep, but with half chewed food in my mouth. He finally gave up. Later on around 2 when I was awake, my hero went and got me another Big Mac. He really is the best!
I do not know about any of you reading this, but after what Jerry told me, I was seriously upset! I cannot believe I was treated like this and essentially kicked to the curb! I have had a few different procedures where I received anesthesia and NEVER was I let go before I could even open my eyes or speak a word.
So all of this pretty much....sucked. However, I am going to say right now it was still a good day. How on earth could I say that...?
They retrieved 31 follicles...yes that is right 31 eggs!!!!!!
So now I am trying to let the day go and right now I am just thankful for our 31 embryos. I pray that tomorrow I get a call and hear that there is a high number that fertilized. Most of all, I thank God for giving us this opportunity and that we were able to get this far.
I have stopped numerous times during this post, because I am still out of it. I am going to go to bed now. Thank you all for the prayers today. You all mean the world to me!!

All systems a GO!

Yesterday I went for blood work again. They called me in the afternoon. My E2 level was 2550. Dr. P.A. wanted me to coast last night (no stims). This morning I went for my E2 again. Received results at my ultrasound. E2 was now 4750.
Dr. P.A. said he was not concerned, but did want me to be aware there is a chance of overstimming after the retrieval. He is going to have me get blood work on day 3 after retrieval. IF I were to overstim they would freeze my embryos and we would wait about a week before transferring. I asked him if he tells all patients this or if he is telling me because of what I have going on. After saying it was because of so many follicles and E2 level he stressed again that he did not think that I would. He said there is around a 10% possibility and was just telling me so I could be prepared IF it were to happen.
I am not going to stress about it, because as we all know that will do no good!
Soooooo....trigger tonight at 7!!!!! They moved my retrieval up to Friday! I have to be there at 8 a.m. and then 9:00 a.m......around 20 little beautiful follies will be retrieved!!!
I know there are still so many things that can go wrong...but I am not thinking of any of those right now. Right now...I am nothing but giddy!

The Results are in...
I am happy to report that everything went very well today!!! Thank you for all the prayers and crossing of every appendage you can offer! I was pretty nervous this morning. Typing away now I feel so silly realizing how much anxiety I had this morning. I wish I could bottle up this sense of relief right now and use a bit of it each day for this next week..month...hopefully few months.
So blood work, acupuncture, and picking up meds all went well. I am sure you all just want to hear about the ultrasound. Well, I walked into the waiting room and there were more kids than there were adults. Am I in the right office?! There were two different Mom's that were apparently in their appointments while their kiddos played out in the waiting room and watched Barney. As I sat there I could not help but think...ok, say this time works. Say my first IVF cycle was successful and we are blessed with a child. Would I do this again?? I really do not know the answer. There was a day (many years ago) that I thought I would NEVER go through something like IVF. Looking back I am sure I thought that because I never thought I would have to. I have decided to never say never.
After a few minutes, I was finally called back to the exam room. Dr P.A. and nurse came in. Didn't take long to get right down to business. So here is what we are working with:
Right Ovary:15, 15, 14, 14, 14, 14, 14, 13, 13, 13, 11, 11, 11
Left Ovary: 15, 14, 14, 13, 13, 13, 13, 13, 13, 13, 12, 12, 12, 12, 12
Lining: 10
E2: 1728
Dr. P.A. said that everything looked great and that he would expect to be retrieving about 20!! Woohoo! I am taking one more Bravelle vial tonight. Blood work again in the morning. They
will then call me tomorrow afternoon. Most likely will get another ultrasound on Wednesday. He is also predicting at this time that retrieval will be Saturday.
After the ultrasound, my coordinator infused my Intra Lipids right there in the office. She got a vein right away and I was out the door in 45 minutes. I was asked what Intra Lipids were and why I was receiving them. Intra Lipids are used to suppress NK cells, which I have been tested and diagnosed with an elevated level of. Click on NK cells to read more about them. Click on Intra Lipids to find out what they are how they are used to suppress the NK cells.
I am sure nobody is surprised, but below are a couple pics from the infusion.

I know this is only one of many hurdles we must endure, but for now I am relieved and hopeful! Thank you to all my blogger friends out there! I could not get through all of this without your love and support!!

One Day Closer
I hope everyone had a fantastic Easter!! Hopefully, the Easter Bunny brought you IF'rs some nice eggs!!
Tomorrow is a busy day! First thing in the morning I go for blood work. Then for my Acupuncture appointment. I will then go pick up my Intra Lipids from the pharmacy. Then it is off for my next ultrasound! My nurse offered to do my Intra Lipids infusion in the office after my ultrasound. So that will be one less stop...awesome.
Unfortunately I will be going solo. We cannot afford for Jerry to take time off. His work has been very understanding through the last few years so he only uses time off for the days that are REALLY necessary.
I will take any prayers, hopes, good thoughts, crossed fingers...toes...whatever you can spare for me tomorrow!!
Thank you for all the sweet comments on my anniversary post. I think I am a pretty lucky girl!!

Happy Anniversary Jerry!
Today is the anniversary of the day I married my best friend *insert awwww* Today is our 5 year anniversary! I cannot believe the first 5 years went by this fast. It seems like just yesterday we were sitting under "our tree" just having a picnic.....
This story actually starts over 5 years ago. Jerry and I had talked about marriage at this point and knew we both wanted to get married...and to each other (the important part). I always thought I would KNOW when he would pop the question. I love the man dearly, but he is terrible at keeping secrets. He is the kind of person that calls me at work and tells me he has a surprise for me tonight...thanks but that is not a surprise buddy! By the end of the conversation he has told me what the "surprise is" :O) Ok, I am getting off track.
I just knew he would be acting weird or something would happen to tip me off. I could not have been MORE wrong! The main reason I was completely shocked was that one day he asked me about what kind of ring I would want. So I figured at that moment he was shopping around and that maybe in a few months it would happen. Little did I know, that little beautiful box was just a few feet away already tucked into his dresser. Sneaky little guy!
A week later we were out for dinner just the two of us. We ran into one of his sisters friends working at the restaurant. As he seated us, the friend said Congratulations. Jerry was in front of me and later I found out that he gave this friend the biggest of all death looks. Which then the friend quickly said on your vacation.... *Quick insert- we were leaving in another week to go to Florida to visit his family.* We sat down and I gave Jerry a funny look and asked what that was about. Jerry said that boy has always been strange. I shrugged it off and thought yeah he looks a little off :O) Looking back, I cannot believe I was that big of an idiot that I did not see what was coming!
So the next day Jerry had said that he would like to go on a picnic. I had always wanted a picnic basket (I know...every girls dream...picnic basket...random). A couple weeks prior we spotted a really cute one with all the plates, cups, and utensils...perfect...dream fulfilled! So earlier in the week he said he would pack the basket and come pick me up (we did not live together before we were married).
It was a beautiful day! Sun was out and birds chirping. Spring was in FULL bloom! Jerry picked me up. We headed to the park that overlooks the river. Basket full of goodies and a blanket to lay on in the back. On the drive to the park he mentioned that he got our latest pictures developed and has them back by the basket.
We got to the park and picked out a nice tree to sit under. That tree will forever be "our tree." Jerry tossed me the pics and then started to pull out all the food. I was flipping through and laughing at how silly we are and how awesome our friends and family are. Then...there it was...a picture with one word on it...it did not fit in with any of the other pics...I had never seen this before. It said, Theresa. I looked at it and was completely confused. I flipped to the next pic. This one said Will You. So at this point my jaw drops open. This point I realize...this man sitting next to me...my best friend...the one I could not wait to spend the rest of my life with...is asking me to marry him. I did not even flip to the next one when I just started saying Oh my God, Oh my God, Oh my God...with tears filling up my eyes. Jerry had to make me flip to the next pic. But I already knew what it would say....Marry Me. My heart still skips a beat remembering that day. We hugged and kissed, I said yes about 100 times, and the ring was slipped on my finger. Shortly after, Jerry said what if the last pic said pass me a sandwich? HA! I love this man!
I framed the three beautiful pictures and I will always cherish them.......

Happy Anniversary Baby, and YES.. I would do it all over again!
